A different take on the Surf and Turf, seared sirloin steak and scallops

Surf and Turf: Sirlion and Scallops

Ingredients

  • 1 X 600g piece of sirloin steak

  • 6 large scallops

  • olive oil

  • sea salt

  • black pepper

Method

Step 1

Heat your barbecue grill to it’s highest setting and leave for 15 minuted to get up to temperature.

Step 2

For your scallops, heat a non-stick frying pan on a medium to high heat with a splash of olive oil.

Step 3

Season the steak with a good pinch of sea salt and black pepper. Rub in a little olive oil and grill for 3-4 minutes each side for medium rare. Grill a little longer if you like it well done.

Step 4

Take the cooked steak off the grill and place on a plate to rest for 5 minutes. This step is important to ensure you retain all the juices which will make the steak nice and tender.

Step 5

Whilst the steak is resting add your scallops to your heated fry pan and grill for 2 minutes a side or until nice had golden.

Step 6

Slice your steak and serve with your cooked scallops and a nice garden salad.
